Celebrating 70 years, John Ford’s “The Quiet Man” is simply one of the greatest love stories ever told. He meets his match in the spirited young Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O’Hara) only to find himself confronted by her belligerent brother and the town’s strict customs. Cinemark Hollywood 16 & XD, 9100 Canyon Drive, will host a Turner Classic Movies special screening of the 70th anniversary of “The Quiet Man” at 1 and 7 p.m. Sunday, March 13, and 1 and 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17. Officer and Gentleman’ coming to Civic Center

“An Officer and a Gentleman” is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 15 and 16 in the Amarillo Civic Center Complex Auditorium, 401 S. Buchanan St. “An Officer and a Gentleman,” based on the Oscar®-winning film starring Richard Gere, is a breathtaking production that celebrates triumph over adversity and includes one of the most iconic and romantic endings ever portrayed on screen. Featuring the Grammy Award® winning, #1 hit single ‘Up Where We Belong’, and a score based on the 1980’s catalogue of music that gave voice to a generation, the live stage production is a new adaptation by multiple Tony Awards® nominee Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), based on the original screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart. Water Circus coming to Starlight Ranch

Cirque Italia’s Water Circus: Gold Unit is coming to the Starlight Ranch Event Center, 1415 Sunrise Drive, March 17-27. Cirque Italia presents “Aquatic Spectacular.” The name reflects a unique attribute, as the show features a custom designed water stage that travels from city to city. The stage holds 35,000 gallons of water that performers dazzle over while thrilling the audience with every move. Started in 2012, Cirque Italia is an Italian entertainment company that brings a performance of European style. It is described as a “vivid, dramatic, and moving experience under a customized traveling tent.” At Cirque Italia, the high-energy acts swing from ropes, flip over trapezes, and zip by on BMX bikes and roller skates — pushing the boundaries of human ability. Inspired by the element of water, the acts express versatility and fluidity through human movement while curtains of rain and fountain jets crisscross in time to each move. Laser lights and bubbles also add to the interdimensional effect. Shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 17, 18, 19, 21, 23, 24, 25 and 26; 1:30 p.m. on March 19, 20, 26 and 27; and 4:30 p.m. on March 19, 20, 26 and 27. Reserved seat ticket prices range from $25 to $50 (depending on seating); and children’s ticket prices range from $10 to $45 depending on seating).
