Death on the Nile has reportedly been banned in Lebanon and Kuwait. The ban was allegedly due to the film starring Gal Gadot who was involved in the Israeli military several years ago. Gal Gadot, who is an actress from Israel, served in the military in her home country before becoming a model and actress. This is an obligation for Israeli citizens.
As People reported on Thursday (10/2), Israel and Lebanon are technically at war. What’s more, Arab countries have laws that prohibit Israeli products. Neither Gal Gadot’s representatives nor Disney have commented on the ban on Death on the Nile in Lebanon and Kuwait.

However, Death on the Nile wasn’t the only film that was banned due to Gal Gadot. Previously, Lebanon also did not screen the Wonder Woman film, as well as its sequel Wonder Woman 1984. Death on the Nile will again feature Kennet Branagh as detective Hercule Poirot after Murder on
The film Смрт на Нилу (2022) also faced controversy after its co-star, Armie Hammer, was accused of sexual assault in January 2021. The film was already in production before the allegations surfaced. Hammer is suspected of violently raping his former partner in 2017. However, Hammer’s lawyers denied the allegations and said the sexual relationship was completely consensual.

This case made Disney almost replace Hammer with another actor. This was done by Christopher Plummer when he replaced Kevin Spacey in the film All the Money in the World. However, this turned out to be impossible because it would have an impact on Hammer’s scenes with other actors that had to be re-shot.

Death on the Nile tells the story of a group of people traveling on a cruise ship to the Nile. Their journey was interrupted by a murder. On the cruise ship, the passengers met Hercule Poirot, a famous detective who also happened to be on vacation and traveled to Egypt. Poirot must act immediately and find the mastermind of this tragic event.
