As a teenager, it must be a bit difficult to always be positive in every situation. Growing up in today’s society is challenging and young people are often forced to become defensive. Teenagers are usually not loving individuals. They are constantly competing and jealousy is a big factor. The fight to always be number one is very common in the youth world. It’s unfortunate and sad because these years were supposed to be the best years of their lives. Teenagers are forced to grow up way too early because of the daily challenges and obstacles they face. Some young people can handle adversity very well while others quickly build defensive walls. When faced with confrontation, many teens attack and become reckless, often to the point of violence and today, death.

Developing an anger management plan for teens can be difficult because teens are quick to reject advice and don’t always follow instructions. For youth anger management to be successful, programs must be designed that will reach the targeted youth without being overbearing. Convincing teens that they have a behavior problem that requires attention may be challenging, but it’s important to make them understand the importance of making changes.

If anger is not controlled, it can control the lives of the affected individuals. This is very unfortunate in any life including the life of a teenager. Teens with anger problems tend to scream and scream, say hurtful things, punch walls, push others and even hurt themselves. It may be difficult but it is important to convince these youth that everyone can change. With effective anger management for teens, they can be successful. They can make positive changes in their life that will ultimately make their life easier and more enjoyable. Learning to control their anger is definitely a positive change.

Anger management in adolescents must teach adolescents to be self-aware, evaluate their feelings in an effort to understand the reasons for their anger. They must also learn to exercise self-control, to stop for a few seconds and think about the consequences of their reactions to situations. After thinking about their options regarding reactions, they are taught to make choices, choosing the option that will bring about the effective outcome. Using their likes as a distraction may be a good tool in anger management. This may be a technique they want to try when they feel angry or threatened. Helping a teenager become successful at anger management may require hours of hard work and tears, but realizing that the individual is spared a future of carelessness and avoidable challenges is worth every second.
