How Mysterios Spider-Man Illusions Secretly Spoiled No Way Homes Story

Several of the story elements of Spider-Man: No Way Home has been secretly spoiled by Mysterios elaborate illusion in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Mysterios (Jake Gyllenhaal) illusion in Spider-Man: Far From Home subtly spoiled certain story elements of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Director Jon Watts teams up with Tom Holland for the third time in the MCU as they close out the wall-crawlers trilogy. But aside from its predecessor functioning as the jumping point for Spider-Man: No Way Homes narrative, Spider-Man: Far From Home has already revealed some key plotlines for the upcoming Marvel Studios and Sony blockbuster.

Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with a clear set-up for its follow-up when Quentin Becks dying video outed Peters Parkers superhero identity. Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to tackle the fallout of that malicious confession as the young Avenger finds his life turned upside down. To make matters worse, hes also framed for the death of Mysterio, whos still largely deemed as a hero despite his nefarious plans. That being said, the threequel doesnt seem to dwell much on this particular plotline as its main narrative will have ties to the multiverse instead. In an effort to help Peter, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) casts a spell to undo Becks confession, but this plan backfires, making the situation much worse. Now, aside from Spider-Mans personal dilemma, he also has to deal with villains from other universes coming to Earth such as Alfred Molinas Doc Ock, Willem Dafoes Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxxs Electro among others.

Mysterio may already be gone, but he will still factor in Peters next adventure. For starters, the upcoming Marvel Studios and Sony collaboration movie confirms the existence of the multiverse — a concept that Beck previously used to deceive Peter so he could get his hands on Tony Starks (Robert Downey Jr.) E.D.I.T.H. Additionally, Mysterios illusion in Spider-Man: Far From Home also mirrors several plotlines in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Spider-Man Seeing Multiple Versions Of Himself

Mistakenly believing that hes talking to Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Peter found himself trapped in Mysterios illusion after learning the truth about his real identity as a disgruntled former Stark Industries employee. However, Quentin Becks mirage was far too convincing for the young hero to escape once he was already inside of it. At one point, he saw himself in a hall of mirrors where he saw countless reflections of him from every angle. This was directly lifted from the classic scene from the Amazing Spider-Man #67 comic book issue. But aside from its print importance, this bit also foreshadows Hollands Peter meeting other versions of himself from other universes. Rumors continue to be persistent that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are set to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. While theres still no official information regarding the matter, between the films multiversal narrative and other mounting evidence, chances are that theres truth to this speculation. This means that Holland’s Peter will essentially come face to face with his own variants — almost like hes looking at himself in the mirror.

MJ Falling Down In Mysterios Spider-Man: No Way Home Illusion

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter and his schoolmates go on a European trip in an effort to help them move on from the traumatizing effects of the Thanos (Josh Brolin) snap in Avengers: Infinity War and its reversal in Avengers: Endgame. Their itinerary originally included a stop in Paris, but their vacation was changed on the heels of Beck and the fake Elementals arrival. Peter was actually planning on confessing his love for MJ (Zendaya) on the Eiffel Tower — something that Mysterio incorporated in his deception. To terrorize Spider-Man, the villain created an illusion that MJ was falling from the building, causing Peter to panic. A version of this comes to fruition in the upcoming MCU film with the Spider-Man: No Way Home second trailer showing MJ falling from the construction site in the Statue of Liberty where the threequels final act battle takes place. This particular moment has actually caused quite a stir online as its reminiscent of Gwen Stacys (Emma Stone) emotional death in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. There are even theories claiming that Garfields Spider-Man would be the one to save MJ.

Iron Man Rising From The Grave To Haunt Spider-Man

While Spider-Man: Far From Home didnt physically feature Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), his presence loomed large in the movie. Peters reluctance to continue being a hero stemmed from his grief about the death of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame. But even as he left the United States and traveled to a new continent, he was still haunted by the trauma of losing his father figure. Mysterio knew about this, so he presented himself as the next best mentor for the wall-crawler, all to acquire E.D.I.T.H. Beck also tried to exacerbate Spider-Mans guilty over Tonys demise by including an illusion of the genius, billionaire crawling out of the grave to reach out to him. While a literal translation of this scene will likely never happen in the MCU, Spider-Man: No Way Home is mirroring this particular moment as Peter goes up against Doc Ock and Electro. As seen in the trailers for the threequel, both villains seem to be using some kind of Stark tech in their arsenal.

Spider-Man Standing On Captain Americas Shield

Peter barely had a personal relationship with Captain America (Chris Evans), but hes one of the few characters in the MCU who was able to wield his shield when he was introduced in Captain America: Civil War. Post-Infinity Saga, the iconic weapon now belongs to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who was chosen by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) to be his successor. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, however, Mysterio used the shield to further disorient Peter who was trapped in his illusion. The wall-crawler suddenly found himself standing on top of a massive Captain America shield. Meanwhile, in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third-act battle will take place in the Statue of Liberty which is currently undergoing construction. Apparently, the city of New York decided to give it a facelift by showing the Statue of Liberty holding the Captain America shield herself. Due to the fight, however, it would collapse, detach from the main statue, and land on the ground, just like how it was in Mysterios mirage. note: Spider-Man: No Way Home 2021 stream deutsch
