Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings managed to show their magic at the box office. The latest film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is officially the highest-grossing film released during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since its broadcast in the United States on September 3, 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has grossed USD 183.4 million in the domestic market or equivalent to Rp. 2.6 trillion. Indeed, in terms of revenue, the film starring Simu Liu has not yet competed with Black Widow, but Black Widow’s profits are obtained more than it is shown on Disney+.
even so, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is predicted to soon beat the Natasha Romanoff film in terms of gross profit. And compared to other films that aired in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shang-Chi sits at the top of the rankings.
For three consecutive weeks since its release in the United States, Shang-Chi maintained its winning crown at the box office. Dear Evan Hansen, which is now starting to air, is chasing the top spot, but Shang-Chi is predicted to stay in first place.
At global screenings, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are among the five highest-grossing Hollywood films during the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the previous Shang-Chi is Fast 9, Godzilla vs. Kong, Black Widow, and Tenet which made millions of dollars in theaters and streaming.
The achievements of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are somewhat different from the other four films on the list. Because Shang-Chi is the only film in the pandemic era that doesn’t air simultaneously with streaming services.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings can now be seen in Indonesian cinemas. Besides Simu Liu, this film also stars Tony Leung, Awkwafina, and Michelle Yeoh.
