This is the new release date for the 2021 movies
Dune: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot For the Upcoming Sci-Fi Epic
American audiences have had to wait patiently but Dune is almost available to watch in cinemas and online.
Many other territories outside the U.S. have already had the movie release in theaters to much acclaim. Director Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
The all-star cast features the likes of Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac and Jason Momoa, and there’s talk of a sequel already in the works.
Ahead of the launch in the U.S. in October, here’s everything you need to know about Dune.
Dune Movies is now officially slated to release in the U.S. on Friday, October 22, 2021.
It had its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2021. It’s also been released in 14 countries already including France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Russia.
Dune was originally scheduled for release on November 20, 2020, and again in December 18, but it was pushed back both times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
How Can I Watch Dune?
Like all Warner Bros. movies in 2020, Dune is being released simultaneously in movie theaters and on HBO Max. It will be available on the home streaming service for one month from release.
Director Villeneuve has voiced his displeasure at the decision to not screen Dune exclusively in cinemas, writing in a Variety column, “Streaming can produce great content, but not movies of Dune’s scope and scale.”
He claimed the decision would impact Dune’s ability to perform well financially at the box office.
What Is Dune About?
Dune is based on a 1965 sci-fi novel of the same name written by American author Frank Herbert. It is the first installment in what is known as the Dune saga, of which Herbert wrote six novels, while more authors have written and contributed several more.
Dune is set thousands of years in the future when humanity has developed light-speed space travel. An interplanetary war between factions of humans emerges as they battle over a substance called “spice.”
Dune follows young heir of the House Atreides, Paul. Developing his own prophetic abilities which he inherits from his mother’s side, he has visions of a stranger from a planet called Arrakis which is inhabited by the Fremen.
Escape Room 2 Has an Extended Cut That’ll Change the Franchise
Leave it to a film franchise called Escape Room to make its movies a puzzle for fans. On September 21, the second Escape Room film, subtitled Tournament of Champions, will be released digitally, with two different versions. One is the 88 minute theatrical cut and the other is a 96 minute extended cut which may blow the door wide open on the series’ mythology.
According to a description on Movies Anywhere, the longer digital version “includes more than 25 minutes of all new scenes including an alternate beginning and ending revealing for the first time who is behind the Minos Corporation.” That sure sounds like the franchise’s big bad is being revealed in an extended edition that’s completely different from the one we saw in theaters.
Let’s back up a second. The first Escape Room was released in January 2019 and grossed over $150 million worldwide. A second film was quickly put in the works and released in July 2021. Both films are directed by Adam Robitel (Insidious: The Last Key) and tell the story of a seemingly random group of strangers who find themselves caught in a deadly series of rooms that they must escape from or die. The survivors of the first film then move onto the second film where they vow to take down the company they believe is behind is all, Minos. However, in the second film, Tournament of Champions, you don’t really get any of that—there are plenty of new, cool, elaborate escape rooms, but the movie lacks any real escalation of the franchise mythology in regards to Minos.
At least, that’s how it went in the theatrical version. An io9 reader who goes by JR first alerted us to fans online who were very confused. Some saw the film in theaters, where its ending [Spoiler Alert] revealed that the whole movie was an elaborate trap to get the star, Zoey (Taylor Russell), to face her biggest fear, getting on a plane. Others, however, didn’t see any of that. People who were watching (probably illegally, we should note) the sequel online saw a whole new version which dumped the elaborate plane storyline in favor of an even bigger one. This narrative introduced a whole new family who worked at Minos and saw Zoey leave the game, after which she meets the daughter of that family who began to unravel some of the mystery behind the company. We won’t spoil what happens but Reddit threads seem to suggest the current description that’s been added to Wikipedia is accurate.

PAW Patrol: The Movie DVD release date
The official release date for the PAW Patrol: The Movie DVD and Blu-ray is Tuesday, Nov. 2. This is later than we expected. We’d thought the middle of October was possible due to the way Paramount released A Quiet Place II.
It’s possible that the Paramount+ release has helped to reduce the need to put DVDs out earlier than normal. After all, most movies before the pandemic had three months in the theaters before being released on DVD and Blu-ray.
You can pre-order the PAW Patrol: The Movie DVD on Amazon right now. With the pre-order, you land the price guarantee so you pay the lowest amount the DVD is up to the release date.
There isn’t a set release date for the Digital purchase just yet. This is going to be by Nov. 2 at the latest. After all, the DVD and Blu-ray releases are combo packs.
